This was an experimental piece combining graphite pencil and acrylic paint. My inspiration was
the transformation that a great blue heron goes through in the spring to get to its beautiful
breeding plumage. Great blue herons nest along the river near my home so I can enjoy them
all season long and watch as the transformation takes place.
